Today was a really good day. Cassie and I went to go visit Jackson at 5pm and to our surprise he was no longer on the c-pap! (The c-pap was the blue and white tubes which supplied oxygen pressure through his nose) He did have a smaller set tubes in his nose (called a nasal cannula), which don't supply oxygen, but puff room air on occasion. His oxygen levels and respiratory rate looked really good.
Since he was no longer on the c-pap, he didn't need the other tube in his mouth that prevented air from filling up his stomach. So that came out too. With all that gone, we finally got to see his cute little face. We both got to hold him also. His eyes were open for a little bit, but then he fell asleep when we started to rock him. Here are a couple of pictures.Since his feeding tube was gone, the nurse brought by a bottle and said that we'd get to try to feed him. Cassie had the magic touch and got Jackson to suck on the bottle. It was really great to finally hold and feed him. As you can see from the top picture, Jackson was pretty happy to get the tubes off. :-)
